Franklin & Marshall Names Richter Head Women's Basketball Coach

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Patricia S.W. Epps, Director of Athletics and Recreation announced Kirsten Richter as head women's basketball coach at Franklin & Marshall College. A 2003 graduate of F&M, Richter spent four seasons as an assistant coach with the Diplomats before joining the Randolph-Macon staff.

"I am thrilled to have Kirsten back in Lancaster," said Epps. "Her familiarity with the F&M student body and basketball program made her a natural fit for the position. Kirsten's experience with a traditional NCAA playoff team at Randolph-Macon will only serve to improve the F&M team."

During her four years as an assistant coach at Randolph-Macon, Richter concentrated on recruiting, scouting, and player development. Richter was instrumental in helping Randolph-Macon to 89 wins during her time in Ashland, which included a 67-13 mark against ODAC foes. Richter helped the Yellow Jackets to a pair of ODAC Championships (2007 and 2009) and appearances in the NCAA Tournament in each of those seasons.

Richter returns to F&M to continue her success she had as an assistant. Prior to leaving for Randolph-Macon she concentrated on player development. Richter helped coach two Centennial Conference Player of the Year award winners and four All-Conference selections in her three seasons.

Richter earned her B.A. in government with a minor in public policy from F&M in 2003. She went on to receive her M.Ed. in sport management from Millersville University in 2006.

For her performance in the classroom, Richter was the recipient of the Sport Management Graduate Faculty Award for academic excellence. Richter is a graduate of the NCAA Women Coaches Academy (San Antonio, 2005) and is an active member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
