LANCASTER, Pa. – Three Diplomats scored in double-digits to lift Franklin & Marshall over Bryn Mawr 76-45 in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday afternoon. F&M improved to 7-7, 4-5 CC while Bryn Mawr dropped to 0-13, 0-10 CC.
Sparked by a Haley Pilone three, F&M opened the game with a 9-2 run, culminating with a jump shot from Kristin Hamill at the 5:56 mark. The Diplomats kept the pace to finish the first quarter with an 18-6 lead.
Cat Weber pulled in a rebound and followed with a layup at the 8:39 mark in the second quarter to start F&M on a 16-0 run that included three points from Pilone and Emily Moran. AnnMarie DiCarlo knocked down a three as the shot clock expired to extend the Diplomats' lead 39-14 with 3:09 left in the half. Erica Dwyer hit a three to help F&M keep the 42-20 edge at the break.
Pilone knocked down a three-pointer to start the scoring in the second half. Anajha Burnett and Sarah Pisani followed with back-to-back layups to extend F&M's lead to 49-20. Lindsey Powers pulled down five rebounds in the third quarter and got the put back to give the Diplomats the 60-29 advantage at the end of the third.
Back-to-back threes from DiCarlo and Jen Cappucci kept F&M's momentum in the fourth giving the Diplomats the 68-35 lead with 5:35 left to play. Dwyer hit back-to-back threes to net the final points for F&M.
Pilone led all scorers with 21 points. Hamill recorded her fifth straight double-double performance with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Weber finished the day with 10 points and six rebounds.
The Diplomats continue CC play at Dickinson on Wednesday for a 6:00 p.m. start.
