Patricia S.W. Epps, Director of Athletics and Recreation announced Kirsten Richter as head women's basketball coach at Franklin & Marshall College. A 2003 graduate of F&M, Richter spent three seasons as an assistant coach with the Diplomats before joining the Randolph-Macon staff.
Richter returns to F&M to continue her success she had as an assistant. Prior to leaving for Randolph-Macon she concentrated on player development. Richter helped coach two Centennial Conference Player of the Year award winners and four All-Conference selections in her three seasons.
For her performance in the classroom, Richter was the recipient of the Sport Management Graduate Faculty Award for academic excellence. Richter is a graduate of the NCAA Women Coaches Academy (San Antonio, 2005) and is an active member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
Katie Imes was named the interim head coach in June, stepping in
after Ashlee Courter left F&M to assume the head coaching
position at her alma mater. Imes completed her third
season as the assistant women's basketball coach at Franklin &
Marshall. Imes joins the Diplomats staff after serving as an
assistant at Lebanon Valley College in 2006-07.
A 2004 gradute of Millersville University, Imes the lead assistant
for the Flying Dutchwomen with duties that included assisting with
recruiting and scouting along with game and practice preparations.
Prior to coaching at Lebanon Valley, she returned to her alma mater
for the 2005-06 season as the assistant girl's varsity and head
junior varsity basketball coach at Garden Spot High School.
A native of New Holland, Pa., Imes was a two-year letterwinner on
the women's basketball team at Millersville. She earned a B.S in
Speech Communications and Public Relations with a minor in athletic
coaching. Imes was recently honored by being inducted into the
Garden Spot High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007. She
currently resides in Lancaster, Pa. and is the Assistant Executive
Director of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC).
Joe Galvin enters his fourth season as a member of the Franklin & Marshall women's basketball staff. He joined the Diplomats after working with the Manheim Township High School basketball program. He currently works for Citizens Bank. Galvin and his wife Debbie live in Lancaster with their three children, Kyle, Tara, and Shey. Galvin graduated from Waynesburg College where he lettered in basketball.
