Women's Four Outraces Merchant Mariners

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall’s rowers scored a victory in the women’s four at the Kings Head Regatta in Bridgeport, PA. The crew of Caitlin Knierim, Erin Feeney, Emily Gorrin, Kate Emert and coxswain Jan Heddens finished the course in 20:13 approximately 2 minutes ahead of the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

The Diplomat men’s team finished second to King’s Point, approximately 19 seconds off of the 16:31 pace. The Diplomats’ crew of Ho Hong Lau, Nick Ferra, Daniel Falciani, William Riegel, Aaron Hodes, Patrick Maloney, Brent Schneider, Conor Borak and coxswain Kevin Brown raced over the course in 16:12.

The women’s 8 raced over the course against the clock but no time was available. Caitlin Knierim, Shelby McBride, Emma Cedar, Erin Bradley, Katie Winfree, Brittany George, Rebecca Weast, Allie Noll and coxswain Jan Heddens finished in a heavy downpour just before thunderstorms moved into the area.

The rowers return to the water on Saturday, October 4, to race against Lehigh, Loyola and Lafayette. Races are scheduled to begin at 10.30 a.m.
