Women's Rowers Third at Lehigh

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- F&M women’s crew raced on the Lehigh River against Lehigh University and Loyala (Md.). The format was a head-style race, with crews beginning one after the other and racing against the clock. Each crew covered the course distance twice and combined times determine the winner.

The Diplomat rowers finished third amongst the six crews behind Lehigh’s A and B crews. The Patriot League school posted times of 17:01 and 17:47, respectively. Racing aggressively, the F&M women beat two additional Lehigh crews and Loyola’s entry, rowing a combined 18:12. That gave F&M a five second edge on Lehigh’s third crew, and ten seconds on Loyola’s top group.

Rowing in the F&M crew were (from bow to coxswain) Caitlin Knierim, Kate Emert, Emma Cedar, Alexandra Noll, Kathryn Winfree, Erin Bradley, Rebecca Weast, Brittany George and Jan Heddens.

F&M returns to the water next Saturday at the Schuylkill Navy Regatta.
