Women fall flat at Navy Day in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA -- After a promising start to the week in practice sessions, Franklin and Marshall women’s crew had a less than stellar performance at the Navy Day Regatta on the Schuylkill River.

The Diplomats raced the course in 17.23 with stroke rating of 32 strokes per minute.  Lehigh University overtook the F&M with about a third of the 2.5 mile course remaining and the Dips never recovered.

All of the members of the crew felt that this was definitely not indicative of their best performance, but was all they could muster on this particular Saturday.

Approximately 10 training days remain until the end of crew’s non-traditional season culminating with a 3 mile race in Saratoga, NY on Sunday, October 26.

Members of the women’s varsity 8 from bow to coxswain were Caitlin Knierim, Kate Emert, Emma Cedar, Alexandra Noll, Kathryn Winfree, Erin Bradley, Rebecca Weast, Brittany George and coxswain Jan Heddens.
