Women Crews Takes Third at River Cup
Racing in the lightweight women’s eight the Franklin &
Marshall women’s crew team finished second out of three
teams. They finished behind Lafayette, but ahead of Lehigh
University.
In the varisty women’s eight race, the Diplomats placed
third of four entries finishing behind winner Lafayette and second
to Lehigh University. They defeated Penn State. F & M moved 24
seconds closer to Lehigh losing by only 2.6 since their previous
race two weeks ago. F&M beat Penn State by 21 seconds
Both the varsity and lightweight boats from bow to coxswain were
Emma Cedar, Kate Emert, Katie Winfree, Brittany George, Alex
Merrick, Erin Bradley, Rebecca Weast, stroke Allie Noll and
coxswain Melissa Brotschul.
In the women’s second varsity event, Franklin & Marshall
finished fourth of four crew teams behind Lehigh, Penn State and
Lehigh. The crew from bow to coxswain was comprised of Dara
Hesslein, Roni Setton, Meghan McGrath, Seymone Killins, Alison
Ercolano, Caitlin Knierim, Kelsey Harrer, stroke Morgan Burgess and
coxswain Jan Heddens.
Both women’s crews compete at the Mid Atlantic Conference
Championships next Saturday at Gifford Pinchot State Park, near
York, PA.
