George and Lau Named Captains for 2010-11 Rowing Season

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Franklin & Marshall's head rowing coach, Rob Weber, named his captains for the 2010-11 season. Three-year veterans Brittany George and Ho Hong Lau will lead their respective teams this season. The pair earned their captain status by election of their teammates.

"I look forward to working with them in this coming season," said Weber. "I'm confident they will provide the leadership and motivation necessary for F&M Rowing to have a breakout year."

George has been an impact to the Diplomats team since her freshman year both on and off the water. She was named to the Freshman/Novice All-Region varsity women's team her freshmen year. George is also a two-time MARC Academic Honor Roll qualifier, and three-time F&M Delphic Society member for her performance in the classroom.

"My expectations for my captaincy and the team include strengthening the growing program while leading by example and encouraging rowers to improve fitness and skill," said George.

On the men's side, Lau returns to a familiar position as he was co-captain his senior year at Upper Merion High School. He has been a consistent strength for three years on the water for the Diplomats.

"With the fall season approaching quickly, I look forward to my last year as a collegiate rower and to making it the best year F&M men's rowing has had." Lau said.

"Brittany and Ho Hong bring years of good rowing experience," states Weber. "They've both been part of the team for three years and have played big roles as underclassmen in our growth and development as a varsity-level program."

The team kicks off the 2010-11 campaign on October 9 when the Diplomats travel to Philadelphia for the Navy Day Regatta.
