Philadelphia, Pa. -- The Women's Varsity 8 (Larissa Sfedu-cox, Brittany George-stroke, Roni Setton, Caitlin Forsthoefel, Julie Kopperman, Haley Post, Rose DeHaas, Jess Bechhofer, Erica Jozwiak-bow) finished 13th of 21 in 16:24.51. Trinity College won in 15:19.74 at Head of Schuylkill Regatta.
"This crew is actually made up of six novices, and the experience they've gained this fall is going to pay huge dividends come spring. Combined with seven athletes returning from studying abroad, our women's team should be very strong come spring," commented head coach Rob Weber.
Women's College Frosh/Novice 8 (Lila Epstein-cox, Jan Heddens, Jennie Silver, Catrice Rice, Maggie Provencher, Caroline Akeson, Julia Scavicchio, Megan Brown, Abby Benkert-bow) finished 21st of 25 in a time of 18:54.96. University of Pennsylvania won the event in 15:13.3.
"This was the first race for this crew, all walk-ons. We expect very good things from them in the future," said Weber.
The Diplomats wrapped up the fall portion on their schedule with the race.
"I think it was a great end to the season for our athletes and gives us something very positive to build on for the spring," said Weber.
"We're making great progress as a program, and competing at large regattas such as this against some very tough competition makes us that much stronger."
