Diplomats Receive NCAA At-Large Bid
LANCASTER, Pa. – For the fifth time in program history and the first time since 1992, the Franklin & Marshall field hockey team is headed to the NCAA Tournament. The seventh-ranked Diplomats received one of the five at-large bids into the 24-team tournament on Sunday night and will host SUNY Cortland, winners of the State University of New York Athletic Conference title, on Wednesday at Tylus Field.
The matchup between the Diplomats (16-3) and Red Dragons (12-6) will be one of eight NCAA First Round contests to be played on Wednesday. The winner of Wednesday's game will face off against Middlebury (14-3) at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. on Saturday.
Host Skidmore (18-1) will take on the winner of Amherst (13-3) and Gwynedd-Mercy (16-4) in the other Sweet 16 matchup.
