LANCASTER, Pa. – Emily Nagle's first-career hat trick highlighted a dominant performance for the No. 14 Franklin & Marshall field hockey team in a 6-1 victory over McDaniel on Wednesday evening at Tylus Field.
The Diplomats improved to 8-2, 5-0 CC while the Green Terror fell to 1-9, 0-5 CC.
Nagle got things going for F&M scoring an unassisted goal seven minutes into the start of the play on the day.
F&M maintained possession, and in the 17th minute, Nagle recorded her second goal of the day with a cross in front of the cage from Paige Notarianni.
Sydney Cole then came charging down the field, scoring off her own rebound to bring the score to 4-0 in the 27th minute.
Nagle tallied the hat trick in the 31st minute of play, finding the back of the cage off a cross from Cole.
Less than two minutes later, Nicole Bodo recorded the final goal of the day for the Diplomats to extend the lead 6-0 going into the half.
F&M continued to dominate possession, but McDaniel found the back of the cage in the 61st minute when Megan Quattrone deflected a pass from Gabrielle Yore to bring the score to 6-1.
Goalkeeper Ilianna Santangelo played 35 minutes and got the win before being relieved by a pair of goalkeepers after the break.
The Diplomats commanded possession, owning shots 36-2 with McDaniel only having one shot in each half.
F&M returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Ursinus for a pivotal CC matchup at noon.
