LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall is set to host Misericordia on Wednesday in the first round of the NCAA Field Hockey Tournament at 6:00 p.m. Tickets will cost $5 for adults and $3 for students with ID's, senior citizens and children.
Please note that pets are not permitted at Tylus Field during NCAA play.
Series History: Wednesday's meeting between F&M (15-3) and Misericordia (12-8) is one of eight first-round contests to be played in the 24-team NCAA Tournament. This will be the third meeting between the two schools with the Diplomats holding a 2-0 all-time record against the Cougars. F&M's last win came during a regular season with a 2-1 victory on Oct. 16, 2013, in Lancaster.
Tournament History: This NCAA Tournament bid marks the 10th overall and fourth consecutive appearance for the Diplomats. A victory over Misericordia will send F&M to a fourth consecutive Sweet 16.
The appearance is the second in program history for Misericordia, with the Cougars previously earning a bid in 2015 and exited in the first round.
How They Got Here: F&M earned an automatic bid after beating Johns Hopkins 2-1 in the Centennial Conference (CC) Championship game on Sunday. Misericordia entered via an automatic bid after defeating DeSales 2-0 on Saturday to win the MAC Freedom Conference Championship.
Tournament Outlook: The winner advances to a four-team regional, hosted by Christopher Newport, to face off against Montclair State (16-3) on Saturday. Christopher Newport (17-1) is set to host the other Sweet 16 matchup, taking on the winner of Kean (19-2) and Juniata (13-6).
