LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's Erin Coverdale was named the Longstreth/NFHCA Division III Regional Player of the Year for the South Region on Thursday afternoon. Coverdale is the first player in program history to receive the award since its inception in 2009 and the fifth Centennial Conference (CC) player to be honored.
Coverdale (Lewes, Del. / Cape Henlopen) earned her fourth postseason distinction after being named to the All-Region First Team, the Centennial Conference's (CC) Offensive Player of the Year, while being one of three unanimous All-CC First Team selections. Coverdale led the team in points (39), goals (16), and assists (7). The sophomore forward tallied one goal and two assists during F&M's run to the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament.
The Diplomats finished another impressive season with an 18-4 overall record after making the program's 11th NCAA Tournament appearance and advancing to the Final Four for the first time since 1983. F&M's 18 wins in 2017 are tied for the most in single-season history. The Diplomats won the CC Championship for the first time since 2012 with a 2-1 victory over Johns Hopkins on Nov. 5.
