Women Finish Third at Centennial Championships
NEW TRIPOLI, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall's women's golf team shot its second best round of the 2009 season, but was unable to move in the standings at the final round of the Centennial Conference Championships. The Diplomats finished in third place, well behind the 2009 Champions from McDaniel, and second place Gettysburg. The Diplomats finished well in front of Dickinson and Muhlenberg.
Noel Stinchfield was the top finisher for F&M, completing the 36-hole tournament with a 184 (+40) for eighth place. She was ten strokes off of the championship score carded by Gettysburg's Caroline Nathan. Nathan squeezed out a four-stroke win over McDaniel's Elyse Massa.
Grace Gallagher was the only other Diplomat to finish in the top ten. She shot an 87 on Sunday, 13 shots better than her Saturday score, for a two round total of 187 (+43). Her 87 marks the third best round shot by an F&M golfer this season. Caroline Hailey came in 15th with a 201 (+57), while Beth Holt took 22nd at 228 (+84). Andrea Huffman shot 244 (+100) to round out the F&M entries.
The Diplomats will play one final round in 2009. F&M will play in the Dickinson Spring Invitational on Tuesday. The event is a make-up of a previous rain out.
