Diplomats Second at Gettysburg
ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall's women's golfers finished in second place at the Gettysburg Invitational. The hosts claimed the tournament featuring golfers from five teams with a 49 stroke lead.
The 36-hole tournament was contested over Saturday and Sunday at the par 72, 5,800-yard Bridges Golf Club.
Grace Gallagher paced the Diplomats with a combined 184. She shaved six shots off of her Saturday score, bringing in an 89 on Sunday. F&M posted a two round total of 796. Gallagher finished in third place, eight strokes behind Gettysburg's Caroline Nathan (176). East Strdoudsburg's Briana Malachowski took first place with a 161.
Gettysburg had three golfers in the top five, working to a 747. Shelby Glass and Leah Tuscano tied for fifth with a 187. The Diplomats Noel Stinchfield was one stroke behind in seventh place. Caroline Hailey placed 10th witha 198, Beth Holt and Andrea Huffman grabbed 16th and 17th place, respectively, in the 23-golfer field.
The tournament was the Diplomats first since March 29. Two events F&M was scheduled to compete in were claimed by rain. The Diplomats will return to action tomorrow, playing a make-up of the April 6 Muhlenberg Invitational.
