Women’s Golf Opens Spring at McDaniel Invite

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's golf team took part in its opening spring competition of the season at the McDaniel Invitational on Saturday, placing eighth out of nine scoring teams at the event. 

The Diplomats totaled a 452 on the day and placed ahead of Manhattanville (460). Stevenson secured the team title with a 353 at the par-72, 5,831-yard Bridges Golf Club course.

Freshman Jamila Gowdy paced F&M by shooting a 101 on the day, while Megan Whittier carded a 106.

Maddy Markmann-Porch totaled a 120, and Olivia Tufano rounded out the Diplomats' scorers with a 125.

Gettysburg's Hanna Fireman captured the individual title after shooting an 82, while Marissa Broderick (Drew) and Morgan Wirtz (Stevenson) each tied or second out of 44 golfers with an 83. 

F&M returns to competition next Saturday April 14th at the Dickinson Spring Invite, which is being held at the Carlisle Barracks Golf Club.
