Diplomats Set to Defend NCAA Title

NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Brackets

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Eight days after earning their fourth consecutive Centennial Conference Championship, Franklin & Marshall's women's lacrosse team learned its NCAA fate when the brackets were unveiled late Sunday night. For the fourth straight season, the defending National Champion Diplomats will host a regional round, on Saturday and Sunday, May 15-16.

The Diplomats head into the tournament with a record of 14-3, and will await the winner of the first round game between Brockport State (12-3) and Rowan (11-5). Washington & Lee (14-4) and Elizabethtown (15-4) will face off for the right to come to Lancaster, as will Mary Washington (12-5) and Drew (10-8).

Franklin & Marshall appears in the NCAA postseason field for the fifth consecutive season and 13th time overall. F&M has played in the NCAA Division III National Championship game in each of the past three years, winning the 2007 and 2009 NCAA Championships. The Diplomats are 16-10 in NCAA postseason play.

F&M, which has won each of its past six NCAA playoff games played at home, has faced two of its potential dance partners this weekend. The Diplomats toppled Washington & Lee 16-8 and Rowan 14-4 back in early March.

Details for weekend draw times will be posted when they become available.
