More Honors for Ehrhardt, Shields
CAPE COD, Mass. – Lauren Ehrhardt was named the ECAC Metro/South Region Offensive Player of the Week, while Maggie Mae Shields was named the ECAC Regional Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. The honors came 24 hours after Franklin & Marshall’s women’s lacrosse team swept the Centennial Conference (CC) Player of the Week honors on Monday.
No. 7 F&M (8-1, 2-0 CC) knocked off two previously unbeaten teams in less than 24 hours this weekend. On Friday night, the Diplomats topped #1 Salisbury 11-10 in double-overtime. The Diplomats followed that up by handing a 16-5 setback to Washington College on Saturday.
Ehrhardt scored six goals and assisted on two more last week. She tallied twice, including the overtime game-winner, against Salisbury. Ehrhardt scored four times and registered an assist in the win over Washington.
Shields caused two turnovers, recovered six ground balls and won eight draws in the victories. She won six draws and intercepted a pair of passes against Salisbury. Shields’ efforts headlined a defense that held Salisbury 7.11 goals below their season average and Washington 9.83 below its scoring average.
F&M returns to Centennial play this afternoon at Bryn Mawr.
