WESTMINISTER, Md. – Brittney Jorgenson and Gabby Frank combined for seven goals to lead No. 7 Franklin & Marshall to a 15-9 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats improved to 10-3, 4-0 CC while the Green Terror fell to 6-4, 2-2 CC.
McDaniel lit the scoreboard first on free position shot by Monica Parcell at 26:15 in the first. Gabby Frank tied the game three minutes later when she buried a pass from Siobhan Burke and the Green Terror went back on top before the Diplomats scored two straight and took a 3-2 edge at 18:27. Grace Saliba netted the first goal and Christie Huidekoper picked up the second for F&M.
Karli Zeps tied the game with a goal for McDaniel and the Diplomats countered with two of their own to go back on top, 5-3, at the midway point. Jorgenson picked up her first goal off a feed from Anastasia Mergner and Yen Baker tallied the second at 14:55. McDaniel answered with two of their to tie the game at 5-5 before Mary Mitchell struck on a free position to put the Diplomats up one, 6-5, with 11:06 left in the first. Julia Jacobs netted a goal at 10:45 and neither could find the net the remainder of the half to make it 6-6 at the break.
McDaniel quickly went up two, 8-6, with two goals in the first three minutes of the second stanza, but the Diplomats responded with seven unanswered goals to take the lead for good. Mergner started things off at 26:15 and fed Frank 17 seconds later to tie the game at 8-8. Baker put one through off a pass from Claire Jackson that put the Diplomats up for good and Grace Saliba fed Emily D'Erasmo and Jorgenson to make it 11-8 at 17:49.
Jorgenson picked up her third at 16:21 and Frank finished the run with a goal at 15:34. Jacobs struck again for McDaniel's last goal at 14:49 with Jorgenson and Casey Madden netting the last two goals for the Diplomats.
Jorgenson finished with a team-high four goals while Frank finished with three. Baker netted two for F&M while Saliba handing out a game-high five helpers and Mergner finished with two assists.
Kelsey Hoffman picked up the win with eight saves and improved to 8-3 while Lily Galzernano took the loss with eight stops.
F&M returns to action next Saturday when the Diplomats travel to Swarthmore for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
