#18 Rowan Stuns #6 Franklin & Marshall 15-12 in Women's Lacrosse

GLASSBORO, NJ - Caitlin Meseroll scored five goals, including three in the second half, as the Rowan University Profs outscored #6 Franklin & Marshall 9-6 in the second half to take a 15-12 victory in non-conference women's lacrosse action.
Tied 6-6 at halftime, the Profs reeled off five goals in the first 13 minutes of the second half to take an 11-6 lead. Following a goal by Shannon Summers (Fr., North Wales, PA/The Hill School) on a free position shot to pull F&M to within 11-7, Meseroll added her fifth goal of the game to put Rowan in front 12-7.
Sarah Meiseneberg (Fr., Severna Park, MD/Severn) scored at 11:23 to slice the lead back to four goals, but Maggie Goodman and Kelly Angstadt netted unassisted goals for Rowan to go ahead 14-8 with 9:53 to play.
Franklin & Marshall attempted to rally as Jen Pritchard (Fr., Media, PA/Penncrest) scored a free position goal at 7:19, Kelly Cassels (Jr., Downingtown, PA/Great Valley) added an unassisted goal at 6:57 and Pritchard tacked on unassisted goals at 6:29 and 2:09 to pull F&M to within 14-12, but Rowan sealed the win as Goodman tallied an unassisted goal at 1:08 for the 15-12 final score.
The Diplomats appeared primed to run away with the game in the first 10 minutes of play as Franklin & Marshall built a 4-1 lead.
Kiki Foster (Sr., Denver, CO/Kent Denver) factored in the Diplomats first three goals as she fed a pass to Pritchard at the 26:31 mark for a 1-0 lead before connecting with Catherine Onnen (So., Lutherville, MD/St. Paul's School for Girls) at 23:24. Meseroll tallied an unassisted goal for the Profs at 22:17, but Foster threaded another pass to Onnen at 21:50 for a 3-1 lead.
The margin grew to 4-1 at 20:20 as Pritchard scored off an assist from Onnen before the teams traded goals as Katie Kline scored unassisted at 19:44 and Onnen scored off an assist from Foster at 14:57 for a 5-2 Diplomats lead.
Rowan closed out the half with a 4-1 run as Meseroll scored on a free position shot at 12:08, Goodman scored unassisted at 10:07, Shana Smeriglio scored unassisted at 7:58 and Carly Welsh netted an unassisted goal at 2:34, while Onnen finished a feed from Holly Rutherford (Sr., Rochester, NY/Brighton) at the 6:28 mark for a 6-6 tie at halftime.
Goodman finished with four goals for the Profs, while Smeriglio added two goals as Rowan improved to 5-7 all-time against F&M and snapped a five-game win streak by the Diplomats dating back to a 13-12 win by the Profs in Glassboro on March 28, 2000.
Pritchard led the Diplomats with five goals, while Onnen added four goals and an assist and Foster chipped in four assists.
Overall, F&M out shot Rowan 29-27 and held a 23-12 advantage in ground balls, but the Profs held the edge in free position shots (five-for-six to two-for-three) and saves (12 to 6).
In goal, Kamissa Mort (Sr., Ashton, MD/Sandy Spring) took the loss allowing 15 goals on 27 shots with six saves, while Rowan's Katherine Rowland earned the win making 12 saves on 29 shots with 12 goals allowed.
Franklin & Marshall (11-3, 7-1 Centennial Conference) will conclude the regular season on April 22 at home versus Bryn Mawr College in Centennial Conference action. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
