Bullets Fly Past Diplomats
LANCASTER, Pa.—Lindsey Lyons scored in the third minute, and the goal held up throughout the game, as Gettysburg handed Franklin & Marshall a 1-0 setback in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Bullets improve to 11-5 (8-1 CC), while the Diplomats fall to 7-6-1 (5-4 CC).
Lyons' goal came following a corner, when Meg Castranova delivered an inswinging corner to the right side of the box, which Lyons redirected past Diplomats keeper Amanda McGowan for the only goal of the game.
Bullets keeper Allie Rivera did not need to make a save en route to her 11th win of the season. McGowan made three saves in a losing effort.
Gettysburg outshot F&M 11-4 overall, and 4-0 in shots on goal. The Bullets also held a 4-0 advantage in corners.
F&M will close out the regular season with a home game against Dickinson on Saturday at 3 p.m. Prior to the game, the Diplomats will honor seniors Henley Siegrist, Bailey Huber, and Jess House. The Diplomats must win to have a chance to qualify for the CC Tournament, which begins Nov. 2.
