Diplomats Split Doubleheader

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall split a doubleheader with Immaculata Tuesday afternoon. The Mighty Macs won the first game 6-4 before the Diplomats took the second 13-0. F&M saw its seven game win streak halted and improved to 11-5 while Immaculata stands at 3-5.

The Diplomats built a 4-2 lead after six innings but gave up four runs in the bottom of inning. Danielle Murphy and a Samantha Denoville plated two runs for the Diplomats and Malorie Sassaman finished with a pair of hits.
Nicole Casey fell to 5-3 on the season with the loss.
The Diplomats exploded in the second game collecting 16 hits and scoring in all but the fourth inning. Denoville and Liz Chudzik both had three hits to pace the offense. Denoville knocked in three runs and Chudzik four.
Danielle Murphy, Sassaman and Julie Jefferson each had two hits. Kaitlin Zampino (3-2) fired a complete game one-hitter to earn the win. She struck out three batters and walked just two.
The Diplomats return to the diamond Thursday traveling to Penn State-Berks for a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
