Women’s Squash Solid on Weekend

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Franklin & Marshall's women's squash team went 3-2 on the weekend at the Smith/Holyoke Round Robin. The Diplomats (6-9) started the weekend with a 9-0 sweep of Smith College Friday night. Two of the three Diplomats Saturday matches were 5-4, with the Diplomats taking a win against Wesleyan and a loss against Colby. F&M handled William Smith 6-3. The weekend concluded with a Sunday morning loss to Amherst, 6-3.

The Diplomats started the season with a 1-6 mark, but are 5-3 in their last eight outings. F&M was aided by the arrival of Morgan Smith at the first position. She went 4-1 on her first weekend, allowing 23 points in three 3-0 sweeps. Her loss to Colby's Samantha Smith went to five, while her win over Amherst's Allie Daglish accounted for one-third of F&M's scoring against the Lord Jeffs.

Tonya Arora and Dana Russo accounted for the other wins over Amherst. Russo yielded a total of seven points to Caroline Dreyspool in the ninth position. Arora battled back from down 2-0 to defeat Mimi Bell.

Arora and Russo each went 3-2 on the weekend, as did Ellie Foster, Davinia Buckley and Kelsey Tylus. Courtney Mulligan and Aleka Woods both went 3-1 this weekend.

Franklin & Marshall is idle until February 7 when the Diplomats host Haverford.
