Women’s Squash Splits Weekend

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Franklin & Marshall's women split their matches on a weekend where 2-2 reigned supreme. As a team, the Diplomats squash players went 2-2 with eight players posting 2-2 records.

Tanya Arora, Katherine Barnes, Ellie Foster, Courtney Mulligan, Gabby Robinson, Dana Russo, Morgan Smith and Stephanie Tzarnas all split their four matches. Only one player, Chelsea Ross, finished with a better record. She went 3-1 on the weekend.

Unlike their male counterparts, the women were able to sneak in a make-up of Friday night's cancelled match with #27 Connecticut College prior to the Yale Round Robin. The Diplomats halted a two-match slide against Connecticut, cutting down the Camels 8-1 with seven Fummers posting 3-0 sweeps, including Ross (6-4).

After a 3-0 win in which she allowed #15 Bowdoin's Alexandra Peacock just four points, Ross had her five-match winning streak snapped by #13 Middlebury's Jamie Burchfield. The Panther needed five games to take the win from Ross, but the Diplomat bounced back Sunday morning with a five-game win over #12 Bates' Stephanie Cabot.

F&M's 7-2 win over Bowdoin snapped a 10-match drought against the Polar Bears. That high note came prior to running into the under-ranked buzzsaw that is Middlebury. The Panthers moved to 9-1 on the year at F&M's expense, and are now 9-9 in matches against F&M. The Diplomats closed out the weekend with a 7-2 loss to Bates Sunday morning. Bates has taken each of the past seven meetings with F&M.

The Diplomats return to action next weekend at Amherst.
