Diplomats Fall at GWU

WASHINGTON, D.C. – George Washington toppled Franklin & Marshall 7-2 in women's squash on Saturday. The win is marks only the third for the Colonials (11-5) through 14 matches, and is the second in three years.

The #16 Diplomats (6-10) got wins in the third and seventh positions. No. 3 Roxanna Mead (7-9) defeated Lauren Mathieu in five, 7-11, 9-11, 11-8, 11-3, 12-10. No. 7 Elizabeth Gatling (7-9) also needed five to take down Maya Nair, 4-11, 7-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-7. Both Gatling and Mead battled back from two games down to secure their wins.

No. 1 Morgan Smith (4-11) took Jacquline Shea to a fifth game, but fell by three points in the decisive frame,  6-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-3, 11-8.

The Diplomats return to action next Saturday at Mayser Center against Georgetown.
