Amherst Edges Diplomats in Walker Cup Final

PRINCETON, N.J. – Franklin & Marshall's No. 17 women's squash team fell just short of its first Walker Cup Title since 2011, dropping a narrow 5-4 match against No. 18 Amherst in the C Division Championship at the CSA Team Championships on Sunday.

The Diplomats concluded their season with a 7-13 overall record while Amherst wrapped up action at 13-7.

By the Numbers

The bottom of ladder decided Sunday's match, as F&M was dominant at the No. 1-4 positions with four wins, including three sweeps, but was winless in the other five contests. Three of the bouts went to five games with Amherst winning each of the matchups that went the distance.

Sherilyn Yang (No. 2), Lauren Johnston (No. 3) and Ellen Verry (No. 4) each produced a perfect 3-0 record in the bracket over the weekend. The Diplomats went 2-1 as a team with wins over Wesleyan on Friday (8-1) and Tufts on Saturday (9-0).
