Six Advance To Finals From Session One

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall women's swimming team began its quest to regain the Centennial Conference (CC) championship on Friday afternoon at Gettysburg. In Friday's session one, the Diplomats advanced six swimmers in three different events to the finals.

F&M placed three swimmers in the 500 freestyle. Katie Grant finished second with a 5:07.17, Maggie Johns took fifth at 5:13.79, and Garland Barlett swam to eighth with a time of 5:19.56.

Junior Krista Hollingsworth placed fifth in the 50 freestyle with a 24.96, while teammate Rebecca Daen was just .1 seconds behind her finishing sixth at 24.97.

Katherine DeCrosta was F&M's sixth swimmer to advance from session one. DeCrosta came in third in the 200 IM, with the same time as Malena Lair Ferrari from Ursinus, at 2:11.87. Swarthmore's Supriya Davis won the preliminaries with a 2:08.60, which was a NCAA B-Cut time.

Reaching the consolations for the Diplomats were: Alexia Tomlinson (5:22.93, 12th) and Olivia Hill (5:24.79, 14th) in the 500 free, Kasey Christiansen (2:17.37, 12th) in the 200 IM, and Jackie Behr (25.18, 9th) in the 50 free.

The finals will be held tonight at 7 p.m. Champions will be crowned in the 200 Free Relay, 500 Free, 200 IM, 50 Free, 400 Medley Relay.
