LANCASTER, Pa. – Seven Franklin and Marshall women's swimmers booked places in the finals on the third and final day of action at the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships on Sunday morning. The Diplomats look to continue their ascent up the team rankings after moving up from sixth to fifth over the course of Saturday.
Anna Hess was F&M's top qualifier of the morning, and will go for gold tonight in the 200-yard backstroke. Her time of 2:08.44 was the fourth-fastest in this morning's prelims.
Kellen McDonald reached the medal round once again this morning, qualifying for the top final of the 200-yard butterfly after taking sixth in last night's 400-yard IM. The junior clocked a time of 2:13.76 to qualify seventh. Diane Wagner will be in action in the B final, as she qualified in 14th place with a time of 2:20.91.
Melissa Mullin made her way into another A final in the 200-yard breaststroke, qualifying in seventh place with a mark of 2:26.77 in her preliminary heat. Michelle Wall will enter the B final as the favorite after she posted a time of 2:29.52 to take ninth place.
Katherine Hirsch and Erin Fago will compete in the B final of the 100-yard freestyle, as they both narrowly missed out on a trip to the A final. Hirsch qualified ninth with a time of 54.48, while Fago was next to touch the wall in 10th at 54.83.
Tonight's session will feature the fastest timed final of the 1650-yard freestyle, as well as finals in the 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, and 400-yard freestyle relay. Action will begin at 6:00 p.m.
