LANCASTER, Pa. – Caroline Fry's silver medal in the 1650-yard freestyle highlighted the final night of swimming for Franklin & Marshall at the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships on Sunday night. The Diplomats finished the meet in fifth place with 405 points, while Ursinus took the team title for the fourth consecutive year with 815 points.
Fry capped off her first conference championship meet in style, zipping to a silver medal in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:38.38. Her teammate Grace Pereles touched just three seconds later, taking fourth with a time of 17:41.81.
Anna Hess was the only Diplomat in the finals of the 200-yard backstroke, but she made her presence felt in the A final by grabbing fifth place and 14 points with a time of 2:09.56.
Melissa Mullin paced F&M in the 200-yard breaststroke, clocking a time of 2:26.86 to take sixth place. Michelle Wall eased to first place in the B final, winning by almost three seconds with a time of 2:27.13.
Kellen McDonald finished off her individual events in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing in 2:14.34 to take sixth place. Diane Wagner represented the Diplomats in the B final, finishing 13th in 2:18.69.
Katherine Hirsch led a pair of Diplomats in the B final of the 100-yard freestyle, finishing in 54.45 to take second in the heat and 10th overall. Erin Fago followed in 13th, clocking a time of 55.04.
F&M rounded out the weekend in the 400-yard freestyle relay, with the team of Hirsch, Fago, Anelise Browne, and Colleen Lawlor putting together a time of 3:40.22 for sixth place. Pereles, McDonald, Rebecca McCain, and Jillian Albus added six points in 14th place with a time of 3:44.65.
