Diplomats Drop 6-3 Decision to Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Meredith Lackey and Katie Ertel picked up Franklin & Marshall's only singles wins, and Lackey teamed up with Dana Russo for the sole doubles win, as Gettysburg earned a 6-3 defeat over the Diplomats in Centennial Conference (CC) women's tennis action Wednesday. F&M fell to 5-7, 1-5 CC, as the Bullets, who won their fourth straight match, improved to 9-3, 3-2 CC.

Lackey opened up action with a win at the number one singles spot, defeating Katie Taylor by scores of 6-3, 6-2. Ertel notched the number four spot win over Lydia MacKenzie 6-2, 6-4.

The duo of Lackey and Russo paired up for an easy 8-1 doubles victory over Taylor and Meghan Kelly. Valeri Harteg and Ertel were edged by Kelly Eurich and MacKenzie 8-5. Gettysburg picked up two default victories in the match.

The Diplomats travel to Johns Hopkins on Saturday, April 10 for a 10 a.m. match.
