Dubow, Gaskins & Diplomats Rank Among Atlantic South Region's Best in ITA Women's Tennis Rankings
LANCASTER, PA - The Franklin & Marshall College women's tennis team is ranked 13th in the Atlantic South Region in the November 26 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III rankings
The Diplomats, who completed the fall with a 1-0 record courtesy an 8-1 victory over Elizabethtown, are the third highest ranked team in the Centennial Conference as conference foes Washington (#8) and Muhlenberg (#11) are ahead of Franklin & Marshall. Dickinson (#18) and Haverford (#19) round out the Centennial Conference representation in the poll.
In the singles rankings, Jen Dubow (Sr., Dana Point, CA/Dana Hills) is 34th in the region, one spot ahead of Swarthmore's Marista Matthews.
In 2002, Dubow finished 5-5 at #1 singles and teamed with Tara Clarke (Sr., Baltimore, MD/Hereford) to record a mark of 3-6 in #1 doubles competition.
At the Centennial Conference Championships in April, she dispatched Haverford's Ann Copper 6-1, 6-1 to advance to the quarterfinals of the singles tournament before falling to then regionally ranked Shoko Nakamura of Washington College.
In doubles, the pairing of Dubow and Kate Gaskins (Fr., Richmond, CA/Mills E. Goodwin) is ranked 17th in the region.
At the ITA Southeast Regional Tournament on September 28, Gaskins & Dubow finished 2-1, including an 8-3 victory over Mary Washington's Gayle Smith and Emily Brimer who eventually fell to Franklin & Marshall's Lizzy Denenberg (So., Wilmington, DE/Sanford School) and Barbara Bee (Fr., Millersville, PA/Penn Manor) in the consolation bracket title match.
