POMONA, N.J. -- Franklin & Marshall's Rachel Suydam recorded the only time under 20 minutes to win the 5,000-meter run at the Osprey Open hosted by Richard Stockton University this weekend. Suydam clocked a 19:57.57 for first place in the race, giving her 18 seconds on the field. Suydam captured the only event win of the weekend for the Diplomats in the non-team scoring meet.
Amy Burke finished in sixth place in the 5k with a 21:12.35. The Diplomats also saw solid performances in the 1,500m. Kelly Farrelly placed fifth in that race with a time of 5:20.41, exactly 20 seconds after first place finisher, Caitlin Dorgan (Del. Val.) crossed. Jenna Bush finished seventh at 5:28.82. Bush and Farrelly went fifth and sixth in the 800m with respective times of 2:43.22 and 2:45.91.
Henley Siegrist was the fourth overall finisher in the 100-meter dash. Her time of 13.77 was third amongst NCAA competitors. She placed sixth in the sixth amongst the 33 runners in the 200m with a time of 26.99.
In the field, Alyssa Catalano took third in the hammer throw with a hurl of 41.84 meters. Stockton throwers took the top two spots with Mahogany Mitchell posting a 43.65 meter toss for the event win. Catalano was fourth in the shot put with an 11.28m throw. Mercedes Hicks of New Jersey City University won the shot with a 12.72m. F&M's Erin Gleason took third with an 11.37m.
Catherine Westerduin placed third in the triple jump touching down at 9.40m, 1.32m behind event-winner, Sherene Stephens of Kean University.
The Diplomats return to action next Saturday at West Chester University.
