The loss of eight-time conference champion Rebecca Swisher, now a member of the F&M coaching staff, will be difficult to replace. However, the Diplomats boast a strong core of returning athletes that performed well during the winter, and have added a group of newcomers that has already begun contributing at the conference level.

Athletes to Watch

Alyssa Ward – Jr.

Rachel Wylie – Fr.

Kaitlin Muccio – So.

Aleksandra Kiszka – Jr.

Sabrina Piccinini – Fr.

Ward, winner of the silver medal last spring in the high jump and bronze in the triple jump, continued to cement her place as one of the conference's premier jumpers during the winter. The junior nabbed her first career CC gold in the triple jump as well as earning silver in the high jump and fourth in the long jump.

Wylie burst onto the scene during the winter season, taking second in the 400-meter dash at the conference championships. She also clocked the second-fastest qualifying time in the 60-meter hurdles, eventually taking seventh, and added a pair of silver medals in the 4x200- and 4x400-meter relays.

Kiszka (fifth in the 60-meter hurdles) and Muccio (sixth in the 400) also tallied strong individual performances at the conference championships, as well as filling two slots in both the 4x200 and 4x400. Piccinini tallied points in the long jump, finishing eighth.

The Road Ahead

Following the trip to Mary Washington this Saturday, F&M returns home on March 25 to host Dickinson and Gettysburg in the Little Three Meet. The Diplomats remain close to home the following weekend, heading across town for the Millersville Metrics on April 1.
