Diplomats Drive Past Fords

LANCASTER, Pa.—Franklin & Marshall returned to the victory column on Sunday with a 3-1 win over Haverford in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action at Mayser Center.  With the win, the Diplomats improve to 10-8 overall, 5-1 CC, while the Fords fall to 8-10, 3-2 CC.

The Diplomats withstood a late Fords rally to take the first set 25-20.  F&M took the second set 25-14, before Haverford cut the lead in half with a 25-16 victory in the third set.  The Diplomats rebounded to close out the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth set.

Julie Harvey recorded the first double-double of her F&M career with 15 kills and 10 digs.  Caroline Hubbard tallied her third double-double of the season with 41 assists and 14 digs.  Sydney Seydel added 11 kills to help pace the offense.  Defensively, Harvey, Hubbard, Kerry Rom, Katy May, and Caitlin Krutsick all had double-digit dig totals.  The Diplomats also notched 11 service aces on the day, led by Hubbard with five.

F&M will play their next eight matches away from home.  The trip begins with a visit to Muhlenberg for a CC match on Wednesday.  Game time is 7 p.m.
