Diplomats Cruise Past Red Devils

CARLISLE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's volleyball team clinched the top seed in next weeks Centennial Conference (CC) Tournament with a 3-0 bashing of Dickinson on Saturday afternoon to close out its regular season.  The win improves the Diplomats' record to 17-13, 9-1 CC, while the Red Devils drop to 7-14, 5-5 CC.

In the first set, F&M pulled ahead to an early 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-19 victory.  In the frame, the Diplomats recorded 15 kills and only four errors on 32 total attacks.

F&M hit its stride in the second set, cruising to a 25-14 win and taking the 2-0 lead in the match.  The Diplomats registered 12 kills in the frame on 24 total attacks.

In the third, F&M completed the sweep with a 25-18 victory to close out the match and lock up the number-one seed in the CC Tournament.

Candice Tussing led the offense with 11 kills, while Kerry Rom added 10 of her own.  Caroline Hubbard was solid, tallying 32 assists on the afternoon.  Alyssa Sanchez paced the defense with 15 digs.

With the win, the Diplomats earn a first round bye and will play the winner of Wednesday's matchup between Haverford and Gettysburg.  F&M steps back on the court Saturday for the CC Semifinals, which are held at the Mayser Center.
