F&M Sweeps Pair of Opponents at Dutchmen Quad

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall won six straight sets on Saturday at the Dutchmen Quad, tallying a pair of 3-0 victories over Rowan and Penn St.-Altoona. The Diplomats are now 7-0 with the victories, having dropped just one set so far this season.

F&M opened its day against Rowan, logging 17 kills in the first set to take a 25-19 victory. The Diplomats hit .324 en route to the victory.

Set two saw the F&M hitters cool off a bit, but 10 kills on just four errors proved to be enough as the Diplomats took the frame, 25-17. The momentum continued into the third set, with F&M tallying 12 kills in a 25-14 romp.

Grace Polisano led the Diplomat offense with nine kills, while Ellie Ezekiel notched eight and Sarah Landry added seven.

Ezekiel paced the defense with 16 digs, while Cassie Garison and Parys Zambas recorded four service aces in the win.

F&M rolled into its match with Penn St.-Altoona carrying plenty of momentum, which it put to work in the first set against the Nittany Lions. The Diplomats committed just two errors and logged 15 kills for a .333 hitting percentage, winning the opener 25-16.

Another 12 kills in the second fueled a repeat scoreline, as F&M went up 2-0 on the back of another 25-16 win. The Diplomats would not be deterred in the third, tallying 11 kills in a 25-19 victory, sealing their second sweep of the day and sixth of the season.

Ezekiel and Garison led the attack, recording 10 kills each, while Polisano added eight. Allison Edelstein passed out 30 assists to run the offense.

The defense was led by Ezekiel with 13 blocks, while Edelstein earned 12 and Mary Leneweaver notched 10.

F&M will next be in action on Wednesday, visiting Susquehanna for a match at 7:00 p.m.
