The winningest coach in Franklin & Marshall College
volleyball history, Coulson returned in the fall of 2003 to serve
as an assistant coach.
He served for 12 years as head coach of the Diplomats (1986-89;
1993-2000) guiding F&M to a 251-152 (.623 winning percentage)
record and six trips to the NCAA Division III Championship
Tournament. In addition, he coached Franklin & Marshall to the
1993, 1994, 1999 and 2000 Centennial Conference Championships.
Coulson graduated from Hempfield High School in 1966 and Lehigh
University in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in psychology
(engineering minor).
Prior to his Franklin & Marshall coaching career, he was an
active player and coach for ten years on United States Volleyball
Association (USVBA) teams in the Washington, D.C. and Lancaster
areas.
