Women's Cross Country 2010 Preview

Franklin & Marshall’s women’s cross country team finished in sixth place at last year’s Centennial championships. The Diplomats have been picked to finish a place higher in 2010, but with five of the top seven runners returning, John Stoudt’s squad has its sights set higher.

"This figures to be the best team I've had in my three years here at F&M,” says Stoudt. “We have a nice mix of senior leadership, experience and new talent."

There is a bevy of senior leadership in top runners Amy Jordan, Emily Wilson, Amy Burke, and Jenna Bush. Jordan finished the season gaining All-Region honors with a time of 23:00, placing 28th out of 311 runners. Wilson finished her season with a strong time of 24:01. Also returning to the squad this season is senior Rachel Suydam. Sophomore All-American track star, Sheena Crawley, will add cross country to her already impressive resume.

The team is looking for a strong showing in the Centennial Conference Championships and a top ten finish at the Mid-East .

"A top ten finish in the very tough Mid-East Regional is a challenging, but realistic goal for the ladies."

Juniors Liz Albright, Grace Thompson, and Melisa Zimmerman will add depth to the team’s leadership. First-year Katie Lane joins the squad in 2010. Lane joins a sophomore-laden roster that includes Lauren Dever, Kara Doolan, Bridget Grogan, Mary Kate Shelley, and Alexis Teevens.

The Diplomats open their season on September 4, 2010 hosting the annual Little Three against Gettysburg and Dickinson.
