GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall fell 67-55 to Gettysburg in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action Tuesday evening. The Diplomats dropped to 2-2, 0-1 CC, while the Bullets stayed unbeaten at 5-0, 1-0 CC.
A Matt Redhead layup at 16:43 made it 8-6 and a triple by Ignas Slyka three minutes later put the Diplomats out front 16-13, with 13:03 left to play. F&M held a three-point lead, 23-20, at 8:08, but the Bullets ended the half with a 10-2 run and took a 30-25 lead into the break.
The Bullets increased their to lead to seven, 32-25, two minutes into the second half, before the Diplomats had a 5-0 spurt to come within two, 32-30, at 16:59. Gettysburg countered with a 10-3 run for a 42-33 advantage at 12:20. The Bullets held at least a seven point lead the remainder of the game and led by as many as 15 points down the stretch.
Solomon Mathis had a team-high 13 points, hitting 5-of-10 from the floor. Les Thomas ended with nine points while Matt Redhead and Mike Rice both finished with eight. Redhead ended with 10 boards and Ignas Slyka chipped in seven with six boards.
The Diplomats return to action on Sunday when F&M travels to York for a 3:00 p.m. game.
