GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Chase TenBrook netted two goals to lead Franklin & Marshall to a 3-2 victory over Gettysburg in Centennial Conference (CC) men's soccer action. The win keeps the Diplomats in the hunt for the fifth spot in the CC Playoffs as F&M improved to 10-3-2, 3-3-1 (CC) while the Bullets fell to 2-11, 2-4-1 (CC).
The Diplomats started strong, scoring two goals in the first 5:21 of action. It took one minute for Sam Lane to give F&M a 1-0 lead when he shot the ball to the top corner for the early advantage.
A little over four minutes later, TenBrook tallied his first score of the game. Ryan O'Connell sent a cross from outside the box and TenBrook was on the receiving end and tapped the ball home to give the Diplomats a 2-0 lead in the sixth minute.
Both defenses stepped up and play slowed down before Parker Delmolino took a feed from Andrew Carlino to bring the Bullets within a goal, 2-1, in the 16th minute.
TenBrook answered with the eventual game-winner with a tally off a rebound at 28:23 for a 3-1 F&M advantage.
The Bullets put one more through off a free kick in the 69th minutes, but the F&M defense stepped up and did not allow a shot the remainder of the contest.
Taylor Skelly picked up the win for F&M with four saves and improved to 1-0 while Connor Darrell took the loss with two stops.
F&M outshot Gettysburg 11-6 and had a 5-0 advantage in corners.
The Diplomats return to action on Saturday when the Diplomats host Dickinson at 3:00 p.m.
