WESTMINSTER, Md. – Two second-half goals broke a scoreless contest and handed the No. 7 Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team a 2-0 win against McDaniel on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) action.
The Diplomats improved to 12-0-1 and remained unbeaten in the CC at 5-0, while the Green Terror fell to 6-5-1, 1-3-1.
With the score knotted at 0-0 in the 71st minute, Connor Finn tallied his first goal of the season to finally get F&M on the board. The Diplomats needed just 13 additional minutes to put the game out of reach when Chase TenBrook notched an unassisted goal for the 2-0 lead.
TenBrook's score was his fifth of the season, putting him in a tie for the team lead with Sam Lane.
Trevor Britton (12-0-1) and the Diplomats' defense continued to stymie opponent offenses on the year. Britton registered one save for his ninth shutout and F&M's 10th overall through the opening 13 games.
The Diplomats led in shots at 12-3, including a 7-1 edge in opening half. Corners were even on the day at 4-4. Lane led the offense with four shots, while eight F&M players recorded one a piece.
McDaniel's goalkeeper Nick Over (6-5-1) was dealt the loss despite picking up six saves on the day.
Next Saturday, the Diplomats continue CC play when F&M welcomes Johns Hopkins to Tylus Field for a 6:00 p.m. matchup.
