LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's No. 6 ranked men's soccer team continued one streak on Saturday and ended another with a crucial 2-1 victory of Centennial Conference (CC)-rival Haverford on the road.
The Diplomats remained one of the nation's hottest teams with their seventh consecutive victory to improve to 8-1, 2-0 CC while the Fords fell 3-3-2, 1-1 CC.
Saturday's victory broke a 25-match CC unbeaten streak at home for Haverford, who entered play with a 24-0-1 recent record at Walton Field.
Both teams appeared destined for a defensive battle as the game entered halftime with a 0-0 tally on the scoreboard. The shot count favored the Diplomats by an 8-4 score while corners were even at 2-2.
F&M found the back of the net in the 50th minute to capture the 1-0 advantage when Dallen Moore fed Shay Adamson for the go-ahead marker. Just six minutes ticked off the clock until the Diplomats added an insurance goal. Alex Lalovic made it a 2-0 score, taking a pass from Kane Feudtner and finding the back of the net.
Christopher Amoruso improved to 8-1 after recording four saves in 90 minutes. Dylan Ioffreda (2-2) was charged with the loss after recording seven saves.
The Diplomats return home on Wednesday for a CC clash with Dickinson at 7:00 p.m.
