LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall goalkeeper Christopher Amoruso was named the Centennial Conference (CC) Defensive Player of the Week for men's soccer, announced by the league office on Tuesday. The honor was the second of the season and career for Amoruso.
Amoruso (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Harborfields) led the Diplomats to a pair of CC shutouts last week. The senior 'keeper opened with a five-save effort in a 2-0 blanking of Gettysburg on the road Sunday and followed up with three saves in 70 minutes in F&M's 7-0 blowout of McDaniel on Saturday. Amoruso's 15 wins on the year are tied for third on the program's all-time list and are just two shy of tying the record. He has five shutouts on the year and has held opponent's to a Conference-leading 0.61 goals-against average.
F&M earned hosting rights for just the third time in CC Tournament history and for the first time since 2014 after culminating the regular season with a 15-2, 8-1 CC record. On Saturday at 12:00 p.m., Diplomats square off with the winner of Wednesday's First Round matchup between No. 4 Gettysburg and No. 5 Haverford.
