Men’s Squash Takes Two of Three to Open Season

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Franklin & Marshall's men's squash team got the 2019-20 season off on a strong note over the weekend, taking two out of three competitions in Virginia. 

The Diplomats (2-1) downed Richmond by a 9-0 score on Friday evening, before falling to Virginia by a 6-3 score and rebounding with a 9-0 blanking of North Carolina on Saturday. 

By the Numbers (Richmond) 

F&M cruised against Richmond with 3-0 shutouts throughout the ladder. First-year Teddy Eill was particularly impressive at No. 7, earning an 11-0, 11-1, 11-0 win in his first collegiate match. Classmates Flavio Hinostroza (No. 5) and Raunak Advani (No. 6) also claimed their first-career wins with  3-0 blankings.

By the Numbers (Virginia)

No. 12 Virginia secured wins at the No.'s 1-3 positions, but the Diplomats were strong in the middle of the order with a come-from-behind 3-1 win from Yannis Senkel (No. 4) and a 3-1 triumph by Matthew Dukarm (No. 5).

Eill was once again victorious by taking his final two games for a comeback 3-2 win at No. 8.

UNC proved no match for F&M as the Diplomats rolled throughout the lineup. Michael Betkowski earned his first collegiate victory at No. 8 with an 11-0, 11-0, 11-2 decision.
