YORK, Pa. -- Seven runners, led by Greg Duckloe, recorded top 20 finishes as Franklin & Marshall won the Rich Achtzehn Classic on Saturday. F&M finished with 36 points, pulling out a three-point victory over the second place, York College. The race featured five teams at John Rudy Park as F&M picked up their first team-win of the 2012 season.
Duckloe (27:34.27) finished third and sophomore Bryan Andrews crossed the finish line six seconds later to for fourth in the 8K race hosted by York College. Both runners finished in view of first place runner, Darren Driscoll, of Virginia Wesleyan (27:20.06).
Luk Olenginski (27:47.30) finished in 11th, as the separation from fourth place to 11th was only seven seconds. Freshman standout, James Hamilton (28:06.66) placed 14th, followed closely by senior Angelo Arce (28:16.76). Fellow seniors Andrew Foley (28:27.94) and Josh Wesalo (28:28.64) separated by only a second finished in 17th and 18th respectfully.
The Diplomats' top seven runners secured the win as they averaged 27:53.02, better than any of the competing teams.
F&M will be back in action on September 29th at the Don Cathcart Invitational. The event will take place at Salisbury College and start at 9:45 a.m.
