Women’s 4+ Places First at Occoquan Chase


FAIRFAX STATION, Va. – Franklin & Marshall's women's 4+ boat secured first place at the 2019 Occoquan Chase Regatta in Virginia on Sunday.

Kelly Minard (coxswain), Lucy Brancazio (4), Sam Hershey (3), Katie Benham (2), and Kayleigh Rine (1) clocked in at 21:13.84 in their open competition to pace a field of four competitors, which included a pair of boats from Virginia Tech. The Diplomats were dominant, winning by more than a minute and a half. 

In the Open 8+ event, a group of Marina Lazaro (coxswain), Katherine Gerber (8), Emily Briggs (7), Qiran Jia (6), Sarah Labovitz (5), Lauren Baker (4), Ellie Trikeriotis (3), Rebecca Gold (2), and Grace Bosley (1) also finished first out of two boats with a time of 20:42.78 and ahead of D.C. Strokes RC (23:48.49). 

The Diplomats return to action on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia.
