LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's Erin Coverdale, Melissa Gula, and Ilianna Santangelo were named to the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-Region First Team. Coverdale landed on the First Team for the second year in a row while both Gula and Santangelo received All-Region recognition for the first time.
Coverdale (Lewes, Del. / Cape Henlopen) earned her third postseason distinction after being named the Centennial Conference (CC) Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, as well as First Team honors. The junior led the Conference in points (44), goals (18) and tied for second with six assists.
Santangelo (Sudbury, Mass. / Saint Marks) earned All-Region recognition after being named to the All-CC First Team earlier this season. The senior goalkeeper finished the year fourth in the country in goals against average (0.53) and fifth in save percentage (.851). Santangelo ended her career as the program record-holder in wins (63) and shutouts (32).
Gula (Short Hills, N.J. / Millburn) was named to the All-CC First Team for the first time in her career after tying for second in the Conference with six assists. The junior started in all 21 contests as part of a defense that ranked third in goals against average (0.51), shutouts per game (0.67) and fourth in save percentage (.863).
The Diplomats delivered another successful season, finishing with a 17-4, 9-1 CC record and making the program's 12th NCAA Tournament berth and fifth-straight Sweet 16 appearance.
