LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's No. 9 ranked field hockey team rolled into Centennial Conference (CC) play with a dominant 3-0 shutout of Muhlenberg on Saturday afternoon in Lancaster.
The Diplomats remained perfect on the season at 6-0, 1-0 CC while the Mules dropped to 4-2, 0-2 CC.
Lily Mynott continued her hot steak with her seventh goal in her last three contests, breaking a scoreless game and putting F&M on the board in the 23rd minute with a solo tally. Mynott picked up a rebound shot in the circle and backhanded an attempt into the back of the cage for the 1-0 edge.
Caitlin Morrissey wrapped up the scoring with a rebound goal from 10 yards out in the 45th minute to put the game out of reach for good.
F&M was in command throughout, leading the shot count by a staggering 30-3 margin and penalty corners at 20-3. Erin Coverdale paced the offensive attack with eight shots, followed by Mynott with six.
Goalkeeper Christina Seery (6-0) earned the win with one save in 60 minutes of action. The shutout effort was her third of the year.
The Diplomats continue Centennial competition on Wednesday, traveling to Dickinson for a 4:00 p.m. game.
