Franklin & Marshall's No. 7 field hockey team concluded the regular season with a 15-2, 9-1 CC record to take the second seed in the Centennial Conference (CC) postseason and earn the program's ninth straight Tournament appearance. F&M took home its third CC Title over Johns Hopkins, 2-1, two seasons ago.
This season marks the Diplomats' 14th appearance in the CC Tournament. F&M's overall record stands at 12-12 with a 9-3 mark in Semifinal matches.
In the other Semifinal matchup, top-seeded Johns Hopkins will take on the winner of Bryn Mawr/Gettysburg on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
The Diplomats took this year's regular-season contest over the Bears on a double-overtime game-winner by Lily Mynott, 2-1. F&M has taken four consecutive games against Ursinus and six of the last eight games dating back to 2015. Over that span, the Diplomats have outscored the Bears 15-9.
The last time that F&M faced the Bears in the Tournament was in 2017. The Diplomats took a 3-1 victory in Baltimore, Md. Lily Mynott notched the game-winner in that contest.
Among the Leaders (CC)
Lily Mynott leads the CC in scoring with 20 goals and 44 points.
Erin Coverdale is first in the CC with 128 total shot attempts, with Mynott in second with 91 entering this week. Coverdale is also fifth in the Conference in assists with seven entering this week.
The Diplomats have allowed the fewest goals in the Conference, surrendering just 11.
Among the Leaders (NCAA)
Through Nov. 3, Christina Seery is fifth in the NCAA with a goals-against-average of 0.590.
Lily Mynott's 1.18 goals per game place her 12th in the NCAA.
F&M was selected as the No. 7 team in all of Division III in the most recent NFHCA poll after being ranked No. 6 last week. Three Centennial Conference teams received votes in the national rankings: No. 6 Johns Hopkins, No. 7 F&M, and No. 12 Ursinus. The final poll of the season is set to debut on Tuesday, Nov. 12. Record Book Watch (Career)
Erin Coverdale has 51 career goals and is fourth in program history. She is three away from becoming the record-holder. Coverdale has 23 career assists, tied for third in program history, and is nine away from entering the top-two in program history.
Caitlin Morrissey has six penalty stroke conversions in her career, which is second in program history. The F&M record is 10 (Annie Horsley '18).
Lily Mynott has scored 37 career goals, 11th in F&M history. Two more goals will put her into the top-10 in program history.
Record Book Watch (Season)
Lily Mynott has recorded 20 goals and 44 points this season. Mynott is just the eighth Diplomat to tally 20 goals in a season and her 44 points have her tied for sixth in program history.
Coverdale Breaks Game-Winner Record
Erin Coverdale broke the F&M record for career game-winners when she notched her 15th and 16th career game-winners against Lebanon Valley (9/11) and Mary Washington (9/14), passing Sydney Cole '18.
