Women’s Golf Opens Competition at McDaniel Fall Invitational

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall's women's golf team opened its 2019-20 slate of competition at the McDaniel Fall Invitational on Saturday. The Diplomats placed fifth out of five competing teams at the par-72, 5,831-yard Bridges Golf Club course in Abbottstown.

Maddy Markmann-Porch led F&M with a 17th-place finish out of 38 golfers, carding a 93 through 18 holes. Lauren Chen followed with a 103, while Jamila Gowdy carded a 104. Both Holly Rittmaster and Ember Toth rounded out the Diplomats' efforts with identical 109 scores.

Casey Oppenheimer of Stevenson paced all individuals with a 77, followed by teammate Amanda Perez with an 81. Stevenson took the team title as well after combining for a 336 while Gettysburg was next with a 346 and Marymount finished third with a 356. 

Action continues next Saturday, Sept. 14th when F&M takes on Centennial foes Dickinson and McDaniel at the Carlisle Barracks Golf Course.
